At Off Course Rescue & Sanctuary, our mission is rooted in compassion, second chances, and community. We are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and providing lifelong sanctuary to animals in need—because sometimes, they’ve just gotten a little off course in life and need help finding a new direction. Serving animals across the United States, we coordinate rescue efforts, transportation, and rehabilitation for those who have been neglected, abandoned, or are simply no longer able to be cared for. Every animal’s story is different, and so is our approach. Some recover and go on to loving new homes, while others stay here permanently as part of our sanctuary family—where they are cherished for exactly who they are.

Equine Support: Horses are the heart of Off Course Rescue. While we welcome equines of all ages, breeds, and backgrounds, we proudly specialize in the Dutch Harness Horse, a magnificent breed known for its strength, elegance, and intelligence. As one of the few organizations in the U.S. focused on the protection and preservation of this breed, we are committed to helping Dutch Harness Horses and crosses find safe and meaningful futures. Each horse that enters our program receives comprehensive evaluation, veterinary and farrier care, and individualized rehabilitation. For those eligible, we work with official breed organizations to obtain registration, ensuring their heritage and lineage are honored. From the young and trainable to the senior and special-needs, every horse deserves a chance to heal and thrive—and we’re here to make that happen.

Livestock Care: Our work doesn’t stop with horses. Off Course Rescue also provides sanctuary and rehabilitation for a wide range of livestock. From pet pigs that have outgrown their homes to cattle, goats, sheep, and poultry, our gates are open to farm animals of all species. Each animal is assessed for health, temperament, and adoptability. Many are rehabilitated and placed into safe, loving homes that understand their needs. For those who require long-term or lifelong care—due to medical conditions, behavioral challenges, or simply age—we provide permanent sanctuary. Here, they live out their days in peace, surrounded by open pastures, good food, and gentle hands.

Pet Rescue & Rehabilitation: Over time, our mission has grown to include helping companion animals as well. We’ve opened our doors to dogs, cats, and even small pets and reptiles in need of care and stability. Our particular focus lies in working breeds, especially Livestock Guardian Dogs (LGDs) such as Anatolian Shepherds, Great Pyrenees, and Maremmas. We evaluate, retrain, and partner with farms to ensure they are placed in environments that match their natural instincts and purpose. Additionally, we have experience with Siberian Huskies and Corgis, two breeds known for their intelligence and unique personalities. Each receives the same compassionate care and attention to help them find the right forever home. We’ve even provided sanctuary for feral cats, giving them safe shelter and proper care while respecting their independence.

At Off Course Rescue & Sanctuary, every animal matters—big or small, feathered or furry, hooved or scaled. Our mission is to give them the time, space, and love they need to heal, grow, and begin again. Because sometimes, all it takes is a helping hand to get back on course.
